Engaging the senses

One of the several blogs I read tagged this product a few days ago (I don’t remember which one, honest).

It caught my eye because it takes a generic product (a vibrator) and transforms it by tying in another sense - in this case, sound (from your iPod).

And it’s not just background noise; this is a synchronized affair. Check out the gushy testimonials on the OhMiBod web site - a satisfied bunch, it seems.

I’m intrigued by this idea of weaving new sensual dimensions into existing products or services to enhance the user experience.

Earlier this year, in her Q&A on this blog, Yosh Han talked about her exploratory work on scented operas. I’m looking forward to that.

The OhMiBod and the scented opera engage two or three of the five senses. What engages all five senses? A lot, in this town. And that’s not necessarily a good thing!
